My name is Josh Corley, I live in Brandon, Mississippi. I have lived in Mississippi all of my life, but have moved around here a couple times. Started out living in Ridgeland, moved to Carrollton, and finally moved to Brandon.
Growing up, I never had much of a childhood. Most of it was ripped away from a very young age.. But there is always one thing from it that has always stayed with me, my love for music. I'll never forget the day that I first really got into music. I was 5 years old when my mom put in the black album from Metallica. Ever since then I was hooked to heavy music. No matter what was going on during the day, music was always with me. As I grew older my passion for music grew and grew. I would play air guitar to all my favorite song, even do concerts for my dog in the back yard. I was truly invested in music.
When I was 13, I got a guitar for Christmas. I started playing then, but never really took full interest to it until I was 15. What made me take full interest in it the simple, but amazing guitar work on Marilyn Manson songs such as The Beautiful People, Coma White, Disposable Teens, and Great Big White World. I started teaching myself how to play guitar, learning how to tune my guitar, learning songs, anything I could to get better.
At 16 I started writing and recording my own songs. Shortly after writing and recording my songs, I realized that I would have to start learning other instruments such as bass and drums. While I was able to learn bass guitar, drums wasn't so easy. So I started looking into drum programming with EZ Drummer, which has been a huge life saver when it comes to writing.
After writing and recording the songs I had, I wanted people to hear them. I wanted people to hear what I was proud of, but I knew that the songs had to sound somewhat professional. So I started learning how to mix and master songs.
It's been almost 4 years since I've started my music hobby and I have learned so much that it's crazy. I never would have thought how much I'd be able to achieve with it, but I have achieved so much. What's great about it is that there is so much more to learn, every day is a new chance to learn new ways of doing things that could help you out so much. Every single day I'm always trying new approaches when it comes to writing and recording music. While it may be difficult at times, it's a fun challenge to overcome those difficulties.
With this passion for music I've had for a long time, it's allowed me to meet many amazing people with similar interest and goals. I can't tell you how many people I've met and had great times with when our friendship started with a small conversation about music. I am truly honored for what music has given me and I only wish I could do more to give back to it.
